Call for submissions – Autistic authors from around the world!

Help us revitalize the short story!

Emila Murry Ramey and Jody John Ramey, authors of the book Autistics’ Guide to Dating, are proposing to edit a short-story collection for our publisher, containing short-stories written by Autistics from around the world. We are looking for talented, vibrant authors to be a part of this potential project through Jessica Kingsley.

You do not have to be a published author to participate. The value of this project is that it will provide evidence that culture has impact on Autistic people, and that culture cannot be separated from the Autistic person when making claims about that individual. This is a project by Autistics, for Autistics, and those who love them.

My name is Stephanie Kleiner and I am from Piedmont OK. I have 4 children~3 girls and 1 boy. My son who is about to turn 7 has Aspergers. I have known since he was about 2 that something was different, but only recently had assesment from counsler.

Every day is an adventure and some are better than others. I am hopeing to connect with others who are familiar with my daily experiences so that we may share and learn togheter.

Dear all who have established any sort of mentor program.  I'd surely appreciate a sample "call to volunteer letter" our AS group could send out to solicit mentors from groups like the Lion's Club, Historical Societies, American Legion, Gardening Club, who would be interested in meeting our young men's social skills supper club where they could then share stories, interests, hobbies, etc.  Here's my reasoning behind wanting this sort of volunteer/mentor.  Our guys manage a few min of conversation before dinner.  Once dinner is served, all speaking stops.  Once dinne
