Webinar Survey: Parenting Daughters on the Autism Spectrum

Autism Women's Network has begun doing webinars, and we'd like to know what you want!

We are putting together three interest surveys: one each for (1) autistic parents who are parenting autistic daughters, neurotypical parents and caregivers parenting daughters with autism (2) autistic women (3) and the professionals that work with us in order to figure out what the community needs, and where their interests are focused.

(*) This is the first survey in the series.

We value your input and appreciate you taking the time to share your opinions and suggestions with us. Please follow the link to take the brief 10 question survey. Thank you!

BONES!!!!

I love Bones! And not just because I love Anthropology.

Brennan is prolly one of the best role models for young ASD women and girls on TV right now. Finding TV depictions of women on spectrum is hard, Finding positive ones are harder, but finding ones that are also attractive? nearly impossible!

Yet on Bones we have a smart, Successful, attractive woman on spectrum, who gets to do a job she loves in her Special Interest Field.

We also get to see her social interactions in a way that shows both her weaknesses and her strengths, as well as her solutions for certain things. Her Best Friend is Angela, the Arty Social NT working as the facial reconstruction/data retrieval person who often points out Social stuff she doesn't get. And we get to see some of the romantic relationship issues, too.

Memorable lyrics

Over in the notable quotables thread, we started sharing lyrics, but we all posted so many I figured we should have a thread over here for our favorite or most memorable lyrics!

Science Fiction shows, or reality/nonfiction shows. what do you prefer?

I prefer reality shows. My favorite channels are: Discovery Health,  TLC, Animal Planet. I rarely watch actual movies. Of course, I watch alot of cartoons with kids around.

Doctor Who!

Please please Please tell me I'm not the only Doctor Who fan! :D :D :D

<-- I might ask if we can add a TARDIS emoticon to our Emoticon list! for now I'm using the one from www.exisle.net . . .

Is TV Character House an Aspie?

I really like the television series House.  I have heard some suggest that he is an Aspie.  I'm not so sure.  What do you think?  Any other House fans out there?
