ASAN Internship Available in DC Metro Area

The Autistic Self-Advocacy Network is looking for an intern in the DC area for the Fall 2011 semester. The intern would assist with administrative and other tasks, such as research, to support ASAN's important work. Requirements include good organizational and time management skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and professional communication skills. This is an unpaid internship, but ASAN is happy to work with interns to arrange course credit. This is a great opportunity for someone eager to work in the disability rights community and gain valuable skills. letter to get volunteers to mentor a young men's AS social skills support group

Dear all who have established any sort of mentor program.  I'd surely appreciate a sample "call to volunteer letter" our AS group could send out to solicit mentors from groups like the Lion's Club, Historical Societies, American Legion, Gardening Club, who would be interested in meeting our young men's social skills supper club where they could then share stories, interests, hobbies, etc.  Here's my reasoning behind wanting this sort of volunteer/mentor.  Our guys manage a few min of conversation before dinner.  Once dinner is served, all speaking stops.  Once dinne
